Music Plays On Through Levitt In Your Neighborhood

Sioux Falls, SD  (September 16, 2020) Levitt at the Falls has successfully launched its Levitt In Your Neighborhood program that brings pop-up performers to neighborhood gatherings and small events in locations throughout the city to bring music and vibrancy to people throughout the community. Intimate outdoor events feature artists that represent a diverse selection of genres and styles from the very best of our local music scene.  Over the course of the season, 20 pop-up performances will occur, employing 50 local musicians and partnering with 14 different local organizations.

This weekend, Levitt will present 3 local artists at community sites in partnership with  5 different community organizations.

On Friday, September 18th, local folk group Condor will serve as roving musicians, playing for the guests lined-up at the drive through Faith Temple Food Giveaway at W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds from 3-4pm.  Then on Saturday, September 19th, the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra’s Dakota String Quartet will perform at Good Earth State Park at 10:30am and 12pm.  On Sunday, September 20th at 4:00pm local R&B artist Arlinda Peacock will present a free performance at Terrace Park in partnership with the Terrace Park Neighborhood Association’s National Night Out activities, which will include a visit from the Siouxland Libraries Bookmobile.

“The mission of Levitt at the Falls is rooted in connecting our community.  While we miss our large concerts on the lawn, Levitt In Your Neighborhood has allowed our organization to intentionally build community partnerships.  We are so pleased to be able to continue to bring music to the community safely while deepening our relationships with non-profits, engaging local artists, and meeting our community in their neighborhoods,” said Nancy Halverson, Levitt at the Falls Executive Director.

Levitt In Your Neighborhood has been a core component of Levitt’s 2020 pivoted programming which has also included a successful digital program – Levitt In Your Living Room.  Despite the cancellation of larger concerts on the lawn in Falls Park, Levitt’s pivoted digital and neighborhood programs have served over 100,000 households to date this season.

Levitt at the Falls is a non-profit organization dedicated to building community through music. Opened in 2019, Levitt at the Falls was created to give everyone in Sioux Falls the chance to experience the power of free, live, music.
