Featured Visual Artist: Richard Krueger

Sioux Falls, S.D. — The Sioux Falls Arts Council will feature RICHARD KRUEGER as November and December’s Featured Visual Artist. Krueger will be on display from November until the end of December.

RICHARD KRUEGER is originally from Milwaukee, WI. He studied art at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee campus and has worked in watercolor, pastels, sculpture, and digitally altered photographs. His current focus is on glass, copper wire, colored pencil, and copper sheeting, yet he continues to explore other forms. Richard looks back over the last 60 years and all the joy art has given him. His exploration of medias and feelings, are statements of how he sees the world. Richard is recovering from addictions, and his art speaks of his recovery from the dark areas in his life, to the ones of joy as he is released from bondage.

Richard’s work has been displayed at the Sioux City Art Center, Washington Pavilion, South Dakota Art Museum, Dahl Art Center, Eide/Dalrymple Art Gallery, South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center, University of South Dakota Art Gallery, and Frogman’s Press and Gallery.

Sioux Falls Imagined: A Cultural Plan for a Vibrant and Prosperous City, approved by the City of Sioux Falls in July 2014, named the Sioux Falls Arts Council as the organization given the charge of implementing the plan. From the Artists and Creative Workers task force findings, a strong need identified for the local art community was alternative exhibition space(s). The Featured Artist Exhibit at the Sioux Falls Arts Council office opened in May 2016 as a way to start filling this need.
