Featured Arts Exhibition: Sanford Arts

The SFAC features a new exhibition every two months in an effort to give artists and organizations who have not yet had a solo exhibition in Sioux Falls the chance to do so. Artists are selected by a panel of jurors and are then presented to the public in a celebratory open house. These events are free and open to the public. Wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres will be available.

Join us June 7th, 2019 as we welcome Sanford Arts into our Community Gallery. Participating artists include Mark Zimmerman, Mary Wipf, Marlee Hayes, Laura Nerness, Shaye Bechina, and Jordan Thornton.

Sanford Arts’ open house will be from 5 to 7PM with a talk at 6PM.

The SFAC is wheelchair accessible from the back entrance of the Crane Centre.

The Featured Visual Artist Program is rooted in Sioux Falls Imagined, our community’s long-term cultural plan.

“The Sanford Arts program offers opportunities for patients, caregivers, and staff to participate in art making activities and programs in the Sanford Cancer Center and at various locations across the Sanford USD Medical Center campus. Participants of all ages are welcomed to join. We offer opportunities for patient and artist collaborations, creating a sense of community and accomplishment for those who participate.

Sanford Arts is part of Sanford Health’s Integrative Medicine- we are dedicated to health and healing by supporting and guiding our patients through the processes of art making. Local artists collaborate with patients in an effort to enhance each visit and their overall experience at Sanford Health. In partnership with the South Dakota Arts Council, Sanford Arts is able to provide residencies for local, professional artists. Additionally, student artists from surrounding universities carry out internships in the Sanford Cancer Center. Artists included in this exhibition are Marlee Hayes, Mark Zimmerman, Laura Nerness, Shaye Bechina, and Jordan Thornton, but they only make up a portion of those who share their talent with Sanford Arts. Other upcoming artists-in-residence also include visual artists Mary Wipf and Zachary DeBoer, musician Jami Lynn, and sculptor Darwin Wolf.

Sanford Arts is funded in part by donors to the Sanford Health Foundation. To support this program please visit sanfordhealthfoundation.org.”
