Joropo Band is a musical quintet with an innovative, contemporary sound based in music from Venezuela. Venezuelan music is sonic melting pot with origins in Spanish, Arabic, and African ethnic music mixed with other world music genres. The Joropo Band uses conventional instruments in unconventional musical ways. A spirit of beauty, spontaneity and jazz improvisation inspires their signature sound. Renowned harpist, educator & researcher Angel Tolosa and accomplished Venezuelan Cuatro player Luis Tolosa lead the group, supported by an ensemble delivering vocals and Afro-Venezuelan drums.
