Jazz & Blues Week July 10 – 18, 2021

Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society is thrilled to announce a weeklong celebration of Jazz and Blues music! From July 10 through July 18th, 2021, there will be a variety of paid and free events taking place each day. Our performances and events feature a variety of local and national musicians and organizations around town. From children’s performances to a gourmet dinner, there is something for everyone! SFJB EXHIBIT

Visit the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion for an exhibit on the history of JazzFest and Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society! The exhibit will feature signed historical JazzFest posters, guitars from the 25th JazzFest anniversary, video

JAZZ CRAWL

Enjoy live music, tasty drinks and swing from place to place as you experience delicious food and great music! This is a great way to explore Jazz and Blues music if you are new to the genre. Join us to hear the best Jazz and Blues musicians in the area performing live at a variety of fantastic venues throughout Sioux Falls! Join us on July 11th at The District in Sioux Falls as we welcome back a JazzFest favorite, and Concert Series regular, Tab Benoit! The shows kicks off at 8PM. Tab Benoit is a Grammy nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist who has built a remarkable 30+ year career on the foundation of his gritty and soulful Delta swamp blues, acquiring a devoted legion of fans along the way, as well as 5 Blues Music Awards, including BB King Entertainer of the Year (twice) and an induction into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. MUSIC MAKER IN ME! POP UP PERFORMANCE

The week will kick off with a Music Maker In Me performance in collaboration with EmBe to bring music and entertainment during their free lunch program! Phil Baker and friends will provide a fun-filled musical performance that will ensure a good time is had by all!

TUESDAY TUNES BLOWOUT!

Join us for an evening of live music, drinks, and some special surprises at Severance Brewing Co!

Kicking off at 7PM, there will be a Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues celebration as part of our Tuesday Tunes series starring the Brian Hanegan Quintet featuring Brian Hanegan (sax), Jim Speirs (trumpet), Emmanuel Michael (guitar), Dalton Petersen (bass), and Bryce Job (drums).

Come out for an evening of food, beverages, and special musical guests for an evening you will not want to miss!

Pop Up Performance with The Hegg Brothers Band!

Where in Sioux Falls is SFJB?

Make your way over to McKennan Park Bandshell for a fun, free outdoor concert featuring The Hegg Brothers Band! The performance kicks off at 6PM and will provide fun for the whole family!

Members of The Hegg Brothers Band include: Jeremy Hegg (vocals & keys) and Jon Hegg (vocals & keys), Jim Speirs (trumpet), Joel Shotwell (saxophone), Andrew Reinartz (bass), and Dan Heier (drums).

Weekly Live Jazz Extravaganza!

Join us for our weekly live Jazz performance at R Wine Bar + Kitchen!

Kicking off at 6:30PM, it will be a special evening with “The Little Big Band” featuring Joel Shotwell (sax), CJ Kocher (sax), Ryan Hofer (sax), Ken Hoyne (trombone), Jim Speirs (trumpet), Jeff Soukup (trumpet), Jeff Paul (piano), Andrew Reinartz (bass), and Dan Heier (drums).

10% of all food and drink sales will be donated to Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society. Make sure to get your reservations in early as seating is limited!

JAZZ CAMP 2021 PERFORMANCE!

At camp, students get to learn from incredible instructors and a guest artist through a variety of offerings. Camp class offerings include Jazz improvisation, Jazz Theory, History of Jazz, Combo Rehearsal, Big Band Rehearsal, Lessons, Concerts, Master Classes, Evening concerts with faculty, guests, and students. In addition to learning and growing their passion for music, this camp captures everything students should enjoy in the summer – fun-filled, build new friendships, and life-long memories!

POP UP PERFORMANCE AT THE PAVILION!

In celebration of our exhibition at the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion, we will be providing a live pop up musical performance from 2-4PM on Saturday, July 17th.

Come and check out historical signed JazzFest posters, learn about the history of the organization, and catch a glimpse of past JazzFest performances! Plus, meet the Executive Director and the Board of Directors of Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Society!

GOURMET JAZZ & WINE

Join us at R Wine Bar + Kitchen for a special evening of Jazz, Wine, and Food! This evening will involve music paired with food and wine for each course. Music will be provided by Latin Quarter featuring Jim McKinney (vibes), Dan Peterson (guitar), Jim Speirs (trumpet), Mark Law (bass), and Bruce Reinhart (latin percussion). Chef Nicholas Skajewski from Skajewski Catering will be providing the four-course meal. Riccardo Tarabelsi from R Wine Bar + Kitchen will hand select and pair the wine.

Tickets are limited and available for $150 per person. A portion of the ticket will be considered a donation and tax deductible.
