Join us and SDSU DoArch for the grand opening of PH01:BRK Passive House this First Friday at the Sioux Falls Design Center from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
The exhibit features work from the SDSU Department of Architecture faculty and graduate student design team in their efforts to design, oversee construction compliance, and certify a single family residence capable of meeting the demanding high performance energy standard of Passive House Institute United States (PHIUS). The project is funded through a grant from the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). The initiative is an ongoing and self-sustaining, with the sale of the house expected to fund the next one.
PH01:BRK is a three bedroom, two bathroom, two-story single family residence totaling 2,000 SF, plus a two-car detached garage with courtyard between the two. It is a prototype for modern living: sustainable, energy-conscious design, maximum comfort, and durable long-life construction. Construction is underway in Brookings, SD on an infill site within walking distance to SDSU and Main Street.
